I sent reschultzed a PM regarding the history of a local Kmart, there is some debate whether it expanded into the adjacent supermarket or not. (Not Kmart Foods, but functioned as one with the same building and facade).

It did in fact knock out the wall and expand.

I know for sure that this happened regularly in older stores - they simply knocked walls out between the main store and the food store - not always was the operator Kmart:

Danville, IL: was built 1963 in an odd L shape. The last grocery operator there was Kroger. Store was expanded into the grocery, but was home improvement only in the grocery area.
Tyler, TX: also an early build. Straight store, but the wall was knocked down between the two stores before 1980.
Alexandria, LA: first Kmart in LA. Wall simply knocked down.
Dallas, TX RL Thornton Freeway: also early build where the wall was knocked down
Gadsden, AL: later build with the same results.

I could go on, but you get the point.

If this was not a Kmart, I am curious to know what was originally in the Best Buy Outlet space.

A quick glance at newspaper archives suggests a House of Values (later branded Payless) that opened in 1969. It was apparently big enough that appliances, etc. were sold. I'll see if I can find more when I have a little more time.

The revolving sign on 44th looks like maybe Lucky Stores to me, but I'm not sure about that.

The video is from 1989. At the 10:45 mark you can see the road sign I referred to on 196th, with PayLess on the top sign. A lower sign on the same pole shows a Pay 'N Pak in the same shopping center.

The Pay 'n' Pak space was most recently Grocery Outlet. It was originally a Lucky, opened 1970, and became a Mark-It Foods in '75 (about 10 years before Lucky pulled out of its Seattle division).

The oval sign with squared-off sign was classic House of Values.

Super-K 4943 was at 3456 N. Carson Street in Carson City, NV. That store is still vacant to this day.
