I cannot find any news articles, and the liquor license is still showing active status in Save Mart's name.

This was always fairly busy when I stopped in. There was a 2000 build Albertsons just down the street which closed in 2006. There is a La Superior and a FoodsCo nearby as well. WinCo and Wal Mart Supercenter have also expressed interest in opening nearby.

I can tell you positively that this store is not closed...I've never been there but do work in the grocery industry...if you look closely at the Save Mart store located you will see that many stores are missing...one example Save Mart #12 on W. Yosemite in Manteca is missing. I can tell you from first experience that it's still open as I went there yesterday...also it shows that S-Mart Foods #91 on Pacific/Hammer in Stockton is missing and I went there on Monday and got a prescription filled. So Save Mart is just updating their website!

Good call. In looking more closely at their list I see a number of other missing stores beyond those you noted as well:

Bakersfield, Hageman Road
Stockton, Pacific (university)
Santa Clara, El Camino Real
