Re: JONS Markets--Southern California
There is a Jons Market on the corner of Cochran and Tapo Canyon in Simi Valley. Any supermarket fan who went in, like I did, can tell it was obviously a former Lucky by looking at the 90s Lucky trim. Jons feels like a small town market in my opinion, does it feel that way to you?

Re: Vons stores with old interiors
Yes quite a few Vons stores still have the old interiors, here in Simi Valley the huge Vons on Cochran and Erringer (former GEMCO) still has the original interior from '93. On the other hand, what's odd is that the Vons in Ojai got the new lifestyle trim but still has older lighting. This was a form...

I wonder if the Target store on Cochran St in Simi Valley, CA was a GEMCO originally? The building architecture looks similar to some of the ex GEMCO Targets in the pics on the links provided on this thread. By the way, I have some NOS USA made GE Christmas light bulbs with the GEMCO price tags on t...

That's a funny name but as you said, DISCO used that name before the dance music of the same name became big. Anyway there was a DISCO store in Capitola, CA on Bay Ave. According to the old DISCO ads I copied from the Santa Cruz Sentinel newspaper microfilms, that store closed in October '74. The st...

Are Grant City stores included in this thread? Grant City stores were large discount department stores operated by WT Grants. There was a Grant City store in Freedom, CA just outside the Watsonville city limit at that time. The shopping center was built in the early 70s, and the Grant City store clo...

I remember the Drug Emporium store in Capitola, CA which opened in '92. It later became a Drug Barn but the Drug Emporium name was left alone at the front of the store. Eventually it was closed and became a Bed, Bath and Beyond. By the way the Sunnyvale Drug Barn was definitely a Treasury store, but...
