There is an old marina style Safeway in Mesa Arizona it has not been a Safeway in decades but for a few years it was a Hispanic grocery store that closed almost 10 years ago and was sitting empty until recently, Now it is being renovated to become a church. But that got me thinking about other stores that have been closed for years before finally being filled or closed for years and nothing ever moves in, In Peoria Arizona in particular there was a smitty's that closed in the 90's that had sat empty until it was torn down in 2020 so far nothing has been built on that plot of land but I suspect it wont be long until some apartments get built on the site, There is also an old Bashas in a apache junction that used to be an Aj Bayless, the bashes has been closed for over 20 years and I really hope something will move into it because it is a cool shopping center, But anyway I would like to hear your story's about grocery stores that are vacant for years that finally get filled with anything.
