Former QFI in San Francisco on Alemany Boulevard

Post by TheStranger »

Saw a few days ago that the long-running Pacific Super grocery store specializing in Asian products has closed their SF location:

The article mentions this was built in the 1960s as a QFI (which I did not know until now). I have been to this store a couple of times, though have been to Pacific Super's other Bay Area locations much more often:

- former Marina Safeway in Daly City's St. Francis Square at Southgate and St. Francis, which operated from about the mid 1980s to 2020. Currently being gutted on the inside but the Marina roof remains, not clear if a new tenant is already lined pu.

- former QFI/Bell Market in South San Francisco at El Camino Real and Westborough in the Buri Buri shopping center, closed as Bell ca. 2011 then finally opened as Pacific Super about 2-3 years later.

- new-build store at the renovated Westborough Square shopping center, approximately where Denny's used to be in that complex. (A Safeway stood where Paris Baguette is from 1969-1997 - retaining the Circle S signs until the store closed - then was a Pet Club until the shopping center's complete rebuild around 2013-2014)
