With, unfortunately, a big gap between 1935 and 1971. Anyone want to fill it in for me?

1935 to 1971 is quite a gap...I'm surprised there are any common addresses between those years at all!

It's a little disappointing that a city with a long history of Safeway operations has so little in the way of good, visible Safeway artifacts. 1265 Center St NE is still the site of a Safeway today; unfortunately the building looks new and Historical Aerials suggests that a 1950s-era store was torn down and replaced in the 1990s. 1535 Edgewater is a gable store partially hidden under a newer facade. A few other buildings of that era survive; but they've been remuddled to nothingness.
