Safeway - Nogales, AZ at the border

When I visited Nogales, Arizona on a college marching band trip in 1992 there was a very old Safeway that was right next to the downtown border crossing. As I recall it was a shoebox style building. The Safeway exterior signage was yellow. The store was quite busy that day as I recall. I did not go inside. Apparently this store is no longer open. Does anyone have any recollections of this store or know when it closed?

I have seen a couple of old pictures online of the border crossing that were taken in the 1940's and 50's which show the Safeway.

Judging from the hexagonical signage, is it this Factory 2 U building?

Actually I think it was the building now known as the "Ueta Duty Free" store further down the street right at the border crossing. The front is not viewable from Google Street View, but the back is: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Nogales, ... 49,,1,1.12

The address of this duty -free shop is 21 North Terrace Avenue. This website of duty free shops lists a "Nogales Safeway Duty Free Shop" at that address: http://fieldspublishing.ca/dfmex.html

An old postcard I found during a Google search would seem to confirm it (the post card is for sale in Ebay as I write this).

The Factory - 2 U building has a 2nd floor, which would rule it out for being the Safeway. The postcard referenced above shows the Safeway being one story and closer to the border crossing. I remember the Customs station being almost directly in front of the Safeway.

I found the answer. It closed in March 1995, apparently because the walk-in traffic from Mexico declined.
