K&B
Google Maps has an icon that says "K&B Liquor" at North Freeway and Tidwell Road in Houston. Different K&B? This looks like a very old shopping center, but Rite Aid never operated in Houston. I think the CVS in the parking lot was a heavily remodeled Eckerd. Perhaps Eckerd used to be in the strip in the old "Eckerd Drugs" days? Funny how Rite Aid and A&P held on to New Orleans, but never touched Houston.

Re: Thrifty (and Other Rite-Aid Legacy Brands) Ice Cream
While K&B had a handful of stores in Texas, they were just across from Shreveport in Longview, Marshall and Kilgore. none of the stores were in Houston.Ephrata1966 wrote:Google Maps has an icon that says "K&B Liquor" at North Freeway and Tidwell Road in Houston. Different K&B?
Rite Aid isn't really 'holding on'. They are actually doing much better than they had done initially. A&P held on because they had been #1 in the market, until Walmart took full hold. That's where the market share began to fall. The local stores don't care about being #1. A&P, Kroger, Winn Dixie, Albertsons and others do, and won't stay unless they are. (Kroger has publicly stated this, as did Albertsons before their split.)Funny how Rite Aid and A&P held on to New Orleans, but never touched Houston.
