Nice old shopping center featuring a Marina Safeway. Does anybody know what the Rite Aid and variety store were originally?

Most likely the Rite Aid was a Drug Fair. They were a local DC-based chain later acquired by Gray Drug of Cleveland which was sold to Rite Aid in 1987.

Rich is correct, the Rite Aid was a Drug Fair. The Variety Store, surprisingly has been there as long as I can remember (mid to late 60s). The hardware store has been there a long time also.
