There are come cool old SoCal photos on this website.

The first one is the interior of an immaculate Vons supermarket in the San Fernando valley (based on a sign in the back of the store). My guess is 50's or very early 60's and if I had to hazzard a guess I would say it was store #22 in Reseda (since closed):

This one is believed to be a Vons but appears to be much older. I have doubts about it being a Vons because of a "Y" logo on the meat dept signs, but who knows?

The Vons on La Tijera in 1957 complete with the huge "V" in the logo (my favorite Vons logo). This store is still open, or at least it was 6 months ago when I drove past it. It looks almost exactly the same to this date except it has the updated logo.

Mayfair Market fire at 17602 South Bellflower Boulevard in Bellflower, July 6, 1951. I love how big the logo was. The Mayfair Market I worked at in San Diego still had this logo, as did most of the others, in 1980.

Alexander's Market in Glendale 1940. I have never heard of this one, and the address is not given, but the parking lot is packed. I wonder what is there today?

Market Basket on Wilshire Blvd. in West Los Angeles. They incorrectly list this as Santa Monica. But this is the same location where the Pavilions stands now at Wilshire & Barrington. This store was later remodeled into the typical spanish style Market Basket and was later sold to Ralphs. They closed it when the entire block was razed for a high-rise office complex and the current Pavilions. You have to scroll down to see it.

I took a look on Live Local. Its located on the corner of Orange and Wilson, across the street from the Sears which you can see in the background.

The building is still there today. It is now a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

It hasn't been remodeled much. They did put some sheet metal walls on the side, but look at a live local view. there is a lot of the original store still there.

Looking at it on Google Maps street view, its still a remarkable building.

I wonder what the address is for that store? If I had to guess I would assume that it was in the location where The Linens Outlet is now (former Strouds). It looks like it could have been a grocery store before after some major modifications to the area where the windmill was. If you use Virtual Earth search "Beverly Blvd. & Crescent Heights Blvd., Los Angeles". It would be the corner on the Southwest corner.

It is the same store.

I just took a look on Historic Aerials.
The address is 8104 Beverly Blvd

The Windmill was there in 1948, but may have been gone by 1952. The next aerial, 1972(?), you can see a depression on the corner closer, meaning the windmill was gone by the 70's, and remodeled in that decade to cover up the old Windmill (as in 1980, you can see the roofline is flat like the others).

Possibility 1: The bottom of the signs appear to say "Youngblood." There was a Youngblood Market at 4910 South Main Street in 1931.

Possibility 2: Could this be a Young's Market? They were a small chain that got out of the retail business in 1940 to focus on wholesaling. They are still in business today as a large liquor wholesaler.

About this store... it appears that it is long gone, but I do wonder if that Thrifty store in the picture is the rounded-entry building still seen at that corner?

I'm going to say yes, the Harris Furniture store is the same building. The overhangs and building scale do match.
