Can anyone confirm if this store is still open or has closed?

According to Safeway's website, this store is still open at that address. (Zip code 95125 to check on the store locator)

Nope, it is closed. Fresh & Easy is slated to take the site.

Apparantly residents were not satisfied with the store claiming a lack of fresh products among other issues. In addition, Safeway could not come to terms with the landlord on expanding the store (there was space right next to it). The store was 28,000 square feet.

I can't wait to see what the residents think of a new Fresh & Easy that is 1/3 the size of the old Safeway with about 1/25 the product mix of the Safeway.

Well, this shopper won't be happy... that was the Safeway in between the hotel and my in-laws and was a perfect place to stop. It was a "manageable sized store" as well which is important when you're from out of town and are too tired with two tired out-of-time-zone-sync kids to be searching dozens of aisles.

Sorry to see it go. Guess I'll be using the Store Locator myself this summer...

Well as they say, appearance is everything.

Thing is, there was nothing wrong with the appearance of this store. The exterior looked recently redone, walls looked freshly painted, floor looked less than a decade old, and most shelving looked early 90s at the oldest.

I guess these customers prefer the drab, dark lifestyle stores.
