After all, Rite Aid's colors are red and blue.
Interesting. So those doors lead into a short spit of hallway, which then leads into the store?

The first major Rite Aids (around 1976) actually had the "shield" logo on the building. Lots of these were already in former grocery stores. Ironically, their newest stores have the shield AND Rite Aid script. There is only one former Eckerd I know of that got this treatment, in Lansdale, PA. Here are some examples:

1. former A&P circa 1954, West Philadelphia: http://www.flickr.com/photos/62355920@N ... 871522417/

2. Whitehall/Allentown, PA (former Penn Fruit). This Rite Aid closed in 2004. They actually had a closing sale: http://www.flickr.com/photos/62355920@N ... 871522417/

3. Newark, DE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v608/ ... newark.jpg

4. Canton, NY (on page): http://www.amesfanclub.com/forum/viewth ... 265&page=7

By the way, "Rite Aid" does not have a hyphen.

Allegan, Michigan has signage like that (see here), so I would imagine it was a grocery store convert from the 1970s as well.

For comparison, the few Rite Aids around here that opened as such have signs similar to the PA/DE ones shown above: the Rite Aid pentagon followed by [Pharmacy] on a white tab.

As I mentioned, Oscoda has had 3 Rite Aids in time. The second one had the pentagon and "pharmacy" in blue, but all of this was on a white tab. I've also seen a few other early-90s stores that had both the pentagon and "pharmacy" on a white tab. Seems that the short-lived East Tawas store (now Family Dollar) was like this, as was the one in Standish before it moved.

On second thought, I'm not sure East Tawas' downtown store used the pentagon. Seems like literally all the ex-Perry stores just had "RITE AID PHARMACY" in red all-caps on both the store and the street sign — I don't recall any ex-Perry using the pentagon logo. Weird.
