Alphy's was a restaurant banner operated by the Alpha Beta Company and existed in a handful of locations in socal. First opened in 1961, this division shut down sometime in the late 1970's or early 1980's. Most restaurants became Denny's such as :

A3431: Valley and Hacienda, Industry (opened after 1973)
A3486: 12320 Rooks, Industry (Rooks Road is the name of the offramp on the 605 freeway at Peck Road. It is at the corner of Rooks and San Gabriel River Parkway just before Peck Road, in front of Peck Road Trucks)

OTHER CONVERSIONS
A3437: 8801 Valley Blvd Rosemead - now a chinese restaurant. This too was in front of an old Alpha Beta.
Citrus and Puente, in front of the former Alpha Beta (now Ralphs) - Millie's Country Kitchen, just remodeled as Millie's Restaurant and Bakery

Duke University has digitized a black and white photograph of an Alphy's sign (along with an Alpha Beta sign and a Save On Drugs sign) on a marquee. No location or date is given in the caption. The name of the four-lane main street is not visible, but "Clark" was a cross-street at a signalized intersection. This is part of the Outdoor Advertising Association of America collection. An Alphy's television commercial from the Nov. 14, 1975 broadcast of ABC's "Good Morning America" (from KABC-TV Los Angeles) is on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjLJ0bmMqtI Go to 12:38. This is a short ad, just ten seconds, promoting 99-cent breakfasts.

From a little detective work (primarily thanks to this Chowhound thread): this is the intersection of Rosecrans and Clark in Bellflower, and it's yet another Alphy's that is now a Denny's -- plus an Alpha Beta and Sav-On that are now a 99 Cents Only store and a Big Lots.

I also see a Robinson's sign in the distance, which I believe is at Rosecrans and Lakewood and is now the site of a Walmart (across city limits in Paramount).
