Every time I drive by the Coliseum Center on Independence Boulevard in Charlotte, I wonder about the space almost at the very end where Office Max used to be. (Or was it Office Depot? I can't ever keep those two straight.)
I guess the only reason I really notice it is that it has an arch-type structure over the front. It's more of a square arch than anything rounded. I'm guessing late 60s-early 70s, but I have no clue.
Was this a grocery store at some point? Any ideas?
It was a Park-n-Shop, similar to the ones still standing on North Tryon (at Sugar Creek, now Compare Foods), and Wilkinson Boulevard (vacant, near the new Wal-Mart). It was open from 1965 until the late 1970s.
