Just wanted to pass along that the Huntington Beach Albertsons, which is a former Lucky, and more notably a late 80s "divide and convert" from a Gemco store -- is scheduled to close Oct. 11th. I haven't verified this, but it has been said that the store's lease is up and Albertsons (Supervalu) has chosen not to renew it.
The store is located at 7212 Edinger, Huntington Beach, CA.
I have flickr shots of this building from earlier this year, staring with this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7591905@N0 ... 135300181/ There are exterior shots in that set.
This is a crappy cellphone pic of the produce area (would be nice to get a few better instore shots before they close): http://www.flickr.com/photos/7591905@N0 ... 135300181/
TortugaOne has some more recent exterior shots of this store -- http://www.flickr.com/photos/tortugaone ... 379092042/
This is one of a small handful (5? 6?) of this Lucky prototype that are operating, the others being Fullerton (ABS), Culver City (ABS), Bellflower (Stater), and San Diego -- not sure about them. Fullerton, Bellflower and this Huntington Beach store have carbon-copy interiors (well HAD, Stater painted and re-aisle-signed their Bellflower store.)
Thanks to TortugaOne for the headsup on this one.
Edit: I has the wrong city! Duhh....
