Falling out of topic, but just to clear up the whole Glen Bell deal...

Glen Bell's first stand was Bell's Hamburgers. He developed what is believed to be the first commercial hard shell taco there. He then started, and got out of, two other taco chains before starting Taco Bell (the aforementioned Taco Tia and El Taco).

John Galardi started his first "Der Wienerschnitzel" on a site that Bell sold him to raise capital to start Taco Bell. It was Bell who suggested he sell hot dogs, it was Bell's wife who came up with the name, and the chili dog sauce was the recipe used at Bell's original hamburger stand. (HA! "Original Hamburger Stand". No pun intended.)

Del Taco was started by Ed Hackbarth, the guy managing the Barstow Taco Tia. He took over the Taco Tia stand from Bell and renamed it Del Taco...but it was actually the second Del Taco. He'd already struck out on his own with a stand in Yermo.

I HIGHLY recommend Glen Bell's book "Taco Titan: The Glen Bell Story" if you can find it.

...And to steer back on topic, Bell claimed in his book that the brothers McDonald showed up at his stand to check out what he was doing shortly before remodeling their drive-in into the restaurant that changed the world. He thinks they were looking for ideas.
