This may be of interest to our Food Fair "historian" Steve Landry, regarding the renmants of Pantry Pride. I personally wanted to know what happened with the old Jacksonville Division while Googling tonight I happened upon this article

This acquisition is the perfect example of how Winn-Dixie could have benefited from Pantry Pride's exit and failed to run with the ball. They gained stores on their home turf in Jacksonville where they were already number one and gained little from this. Had they adopted Pantry Pride's pricing, they could have been better positioned to compete against Publix and Walmart in the coming decades.

Even SuperValu dropped the ball, why bother to buy DC's in a state in which you have little presence only to sell them rather than bolster your presence. They would have been well positioned to be a 3rd party supplier to not only independents, but also Albertson's/Albertson's LLC down the road. It's like they didn't even try to go up against AG Florida.
