I saw this over on the Lotta Living board, that the Big Lots, a Marina Safeway, in Highland Park is closing. The original store opened in 1955 but this is likely a replacement store since, as one of the posters points out, the original Marina didn't open until 1959. Safeway was still building pylon stores in the mid-50s.
There's also a picture on this thread of another Marina Safeway under construction.

Looking at Google Street View, that Delano marina is now Ranch Market and is located at Main/9th (and might be in the Groceteria Bakersfield section).

A group is trying to get this store designated as a historical cultural landmark. El Super wants to either rebuild or heavily remodel the store. There is some community opposition to this (how much there really is I can't tell) so they are seeking this protection.

I took a road trip to Los Angeles two weeks ago, and ended up driving past this store.
I'm happy to say that the place still looks original; on the outside, anyway.
