I visited the mall this past week to go to Sears, and walked through the mall, for the first time in about two years. There are a LOT of empty spaces. Anyway, I was somewhat surprised at the old Emporium space. The car lot, Interstate Auto Liquidators, basically has ONE vehicle parked at the open entrance to the mall, with no lights on in that area, and a couple of desks on the other side. That's it. The rest of it is completely empty, and it sure seems like a waste the way they are running this mall.

Since they use liquidators in their trade style, I'm fairly certain that empty space is filled to the brim with vehicles for auction on weekends. That's the way the auction lots are around here... ghost towns during the week but hives of activity on the weekend.

I happened to visit the mall yesterday, and that space was NOT filled to the brim with cars. In fact, it still had only the one vehicle in it...and still had no lights on and only a couple of desks in that big empty space.

An update...they have started utilizing more of the interior space. Not sure what the future plans are here though, a lot more spaces have emptied since my last visit to this mall.

I was getting on the freeway in Kelso a few days ago when heading to Portland, and it appears that this car dealership has now closed. The parking lot where the cars were is now empty, and you could clearly see that the inside of the space was empty.

The slow, steady death of the Three Rivers Mall continues....

I believe that much of the death has been due to the resurgance of the Triangle Mall, whice I believe is now called Triangle Center.

I won't argue that, but this mall has been going downhill ever since Emporium closed. And it doesn't help that General Growth Properties owns this mall now and has had several mall managers that are, to put it nicely, inexperienced. This mall should do better when you consider its excellent visibility from I-5.
