I've got a couple scraps of in fo on Charleston - it opened in 1956, and was anchored by Skaggs Drugg, Woolworth, Thrift Mart, and possibly Lucky's. It was demalled in 1988. At least it's some info.

While we're on the subject of Nevada, I would like to know the history of Silver City Mall in Carson City. All I can find is that it was torn down for Lowe's.

The West Hill Lanes bowling alley was also in that shopping center.

Below is a link to an archived article on when the Wal-mart was planning on coming to the shopping center in 2000.
It had a Builder's Square prior to where the Wal-mart is currently. It has also several smaller stores where the Lowe's is and talks about a Vons and Raleys at the time that has since closed.

Historical Aerials has some good imagery showing the changes to the shopping over the decades, you can really tell see the general changes in the facade and design of the buildings over the decades.

One prediction made by a resident of the community and the union representing Raley's and Vons employees in the article came true:

"Barbara Mayer said the 24-hour super store will "create a horrible traffic problem" on nearby Arville Street, which is dotted with residential areas and schools. She also said the store will harm other grocery stores nearby, like the Vons at Decatur and Meadows Lane and the Raley's at Valley View Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. … During a 90-minute hearing the council heard from anti-Wal-Mart union representatives, employees at competing grocery stores and residents and property owners in adjacent areas. … Councilman Gary Reese shrugged aside the Local 711 grocery employees' concerns, saying he has yet to see shopping centers close as a result of big-box stores in his ward."

Both stores and their well paying jobs with full benefits are gone today as predicted.
