Re: NEW: Kansas City MO, 1925-1992 (UPDATE)

Lots of updates to this section, including the addition of several suburban areas. Also most listings are now updated from the early 1990s to the present:

A few more small odds and ends will be added next year when I can get the data I need.

Re: NEW: Aurora IL, 1924-2020

Re: NEW: Shreveport, 1925-2020

Kroger never bought the cafeterias. They continued as Big Chain for a while, then were bought by Brookshire's, who ran them until 1990-1991. Re: Safeway-Santa Clara-3071 Stevens Creek Blvd. (Valley Fair)-Store Is Closing

It's listed on the page for San Jose proper because that's how it was handled in the city directories of the time:

Re: Purity Store-Hayward, Calif.-Main and C streets (SE corner)

Hmmm, as I’ve noted before, wouldn’t it be great if there were a website that documented chain supermarket locations like these with the Bay Area as one of its focus areas?

Re: NEW: Québec City, 1935-1976

Québec City directries are here . They're bilingual from the outset, but are pretty much French-only by the 1950s. Québec City never really had the anglophone population that Montréal did. The big issue is French word order for both street and store names. Instead of, say, "Tremblay Foods"...
