Re: Grand Union
And I might add, right next to the patchogue post office, was an OLD OLD OLD 1930's (EARLY 30's) A&P that was open straight to the late 80's, even when they had the second A&P down the road off of sunrise (near pathmark). If you drive by and look into the store, original lights and everythin...

You know right after mainstreet an 112 meet, theres a shopping center with a 711, carvel and a few other lil stores, well that was the GU. Where the clothing store was ,n...

Re: Grocers in "real" malls - not strip malls
In the NE, pathmark still operates quite a number of locations inside *old* malls. These stores are fairly old, some of them 30, 40 years old. However, most have been expanded.

Re: Oldest Operating A&P
In holbrook ny, there is an OLD ap that operates under its waldbuams banner now. This store maybe only had minor renovation work done to it. The floor is OLD and the shelfs are even older. The cases in some of the aisles look old , probably AP days as well. It's deli is up in the front of the store...

Re: Edwards/Finast/Super Finast
I remember Finast well, straight till 96 97. Edwards was not around here on long island that long at all, maybe to the 2000 foiled merger with pathmark? Then all edwards and foodtowns became stopnshop (the Mel White foodtowns used to be good stores). Over the past 5 years, a lot of these former Melf...

I remember the Edwards up the road in with the intersection on 25. The back of the store faced the road, which the store didn't last long.

Re: Bohack superfmarket Suffolk County late 60's and early 70's
King kullen in gateway went up in 95. The old one used to be in the shopping center across from Hills, Which has Pepboys, petco, sears in it now. It used to be where Petco and west marine is. The only buildings in that area standing from this time was the old KK shopping center and the PC richards b...

Floyd Bennett on sunrise highway, yes, right next door was an A&P which opened around 65ish and ran straight till the late 80's (maybe even 90's). It's still there, its a Chuckcheeses now. Caldor had its own store in downtown patchogue (with an OLD OLD king kullen next door to it). West of 112, ...
