Burlington, CO Safeway is about to be replaced. In a few days.
They took over a Shopko Pamida building in Burlington and are moving into it.
Would be nice if they kept the old logo signs... but something tells me no.

Re: Kmart checkouts over the years
Hello: This is a Kmart Canada register from the mid 80s until the late 90s. Me and another poster on here have been trying forever to figure out which Manufacturer and Model this is!!! Reply's on Kmart Canada Facebook heritage/memories pages have differing opinions. https://www.cbc.ca/archives/the-...

Re: Calif. Mtn. Safeway Location?
Thinking Idaho Springs, CO may be it... tough as there is now an Interstate highway behind the store. Terrain likely modified. Yet another non-Lifestyle store in Denver Division... (recently given a cheap remodel to the Florida decor). I looked at Idaho Springs. It looks right, except the portion o...

Re: Fuddruckers in Virginia, Maryland and DC
Fuddruckers was changing its logo before it went bankrupt, there is a location in Sparks, NV on N. McCarran in TA Truck Stop with the new logo. They seem to have reverted back to the old logo at present on the current website.

Re: Former Albertsons in Cheyenne, Wyoming
Some things throw me with this store. While the former Albertsons/Smiths/Nash Finch Econofoods was definitely in this shopping center, the floor does not look like an Albertsons floor. The walls also do not look like Albertsons walls. The other weird thing is the entryway, it has sliding doors. Albe...

Re: Calif. Mtn. Safeway Location?
Looks like Stater got the liquor license on Lake Arrowhead in 1981. Loading dock positioning is dead on but in the Safeway picture there looks like HVAC etc. on the roof above the loading dock and none of that is present on the Stater. It is possible Stater did some expanding, etc.

Re: Guam- Safeway
Guam is a duty free port which would make sourcing from Asia competitive with sourcing from the US, if not cheaper. Manila is less than half the distance to Guam from Hawaii, let alone from the west coast. Very different from supplying Nome or Unalaska and the population base is big enough that you...

Re: Calif. Mtn. Safeway Location?
Still coming up blank on this.
Also in the photo I see what appears to be a Shell station to the right of the Safeway.
I think there is a Safeway store directory here somewhere... I don't know when it is from or if it had SoCal on it but if we can track that down it may help.

Re: Calif. Mtn. Safeway Location?
Looking around, I am looking around CA-2 around Wrightwood. I still can't find this store. But the terrain strikes me as getting closer. Running Springs? Looked over at Acton but I don't think the terrain works. I think we can rule out this store being a Vons at this point but it would be very inter...

Re: All Pay'n Save's in Seattle as of 1980! From old ad!
Hello, this is a very old thread but I wanted to add some information about the old location of the Pay 'n Save that was located on Mercer Island. It was not at the location of the current (2022) Rite Aid building at 78th Ave SE and SE 32nd St. The Pay 'n Save location was at 7707 SE 27th St, accor...

Re: Guam- Safeway
Probably supplied by whomever was supplying the military PXes on Guam. That would have been the likeliest way to make it viable. There probably were more than enough Americans w/o PX privileges, such as people at the University or at Continental Airlines (which had a regional hub there ), to justif...

Re: Calif. Mtn. Safeway Location?
Looks like a rather desolate location. Definitely not Mammoth Lakes or Big Bear. Could it have been a spot down closer to the Mexico border (like Alpine area?)? Do you recall any other businesses surrounding or nearby the store? Maybe a long closed store, which would make it that much harder to iden...

Re: Sav-On Drugs in the Bay Area 1970s
The store in question was the CVS at 1097 Leigh in San Jose. This store went Sav-On to Payless (1988) to Rite Aid (1998) to Longs (2000) to CVS Payless was issued liquor license 212878 on 2/19/1988. Now it appears Longs was busy with the liquor license people around the same time. They filed on July...
