The chain was purchased by Food Fair Inc soon after.

I managed a store in the NW section of Miami that still had one.

Re: NEW: MInneapolis, 1920-2020

Oh, and there's more! The Minneapolis city directories of the 1930s had somewhat shoddy classified listings, with lots of omissions. But by doing a full text search , I was able to scrounge up 57 additional National, Piggly Wiggly, A&P, Red Owl, and C. Thomas chain grocery locations! All of the...

As mentioned above regarding Grand Union's Basics format................it was also during the explosion of Generic products in grocery stores and warehouse stores.

White labels with sans serif fonts saying Genric or other non descript verbiage.

Yup!

I think that might be the second iteration.

If memory serves me, it was Giant Quality Discount?

Re: NEW: Allentown PA, 1925-2021

I did try to give you a city that had a significant Food Fair presence. And I did feature a Food Fair grand opening ad on Twitter yesterday. I think I’m doing my part here! Would be cool if anyone was intrigued with Food Fair........................................lol Just teasing ;-) I know you do...

I remember when that happened with Pantry Pride!

That's the year I quit and told the President that he would be bankrupt in a couple of years!

I took a position at King Soopers in Denver!
