Re: Mystery supermarket in Richland, WA

639 Cullum Ave? You're right; it was a Safeway.

Re: A Marina Safeway Copycat?

Here's a place that I've been meaning to go take some photos of for a while now, but just today got over there with my camera. Interesting Website With Random Grocery Stores

The University of Washington library has a page with thumbnails with brief descriptions of random stores in the west, mostly grocery stores, such as the San Leandro Lucky;

Nice to see the outside of the Marina Safeway in PG&E's infomercial. Click on the CFL bulb, and look real close;

Re: Surv-All Market, Southern California

Good sleuthing, and good point. In that case, I know that this Thrifty opened November 1941, so the supermarket is probably not post-WWII like we thought.

Leesburg, VA Safeway with circle S signs

'Thought it was interesting that there is a 1970's (?) Safeway at 437 S. King st. with all of the original exterior signage; circle S signs on each side, the widely-spaced "S A F E W A Y" letters on the front, and the tuning-fork street sign also topped with a circle S sign. Sorry I don't ...

three square sign, 1531 NE 145th st. Seattle

Does anyone know if the QFC at 1531 NE 145th St. in Seattle a former Lucky location? The pylon signs along NE 145th St. and NE 15th Ave. look a lot like the freestanding three square signs Lucky used in the late 1950s and early 1960s, such as the Placerville store. From what I could see in a street ...

I have no idea where this is/was, but Thrifty Drug had a store in the Sunrise Pavilion (shopping center?).

Re: Thrifty/Payless in Las Vegas

By June 1976, there was also a Thrifty somewhere along E. Charleston Blvd. in Las Vegas. I'm wondering if that was the current CVS at 1812 E. Charleston Blvd?

Re: Thrifty/Payless in Las Vegas

i have always wondered what was at Decatur/Vegas in the big dirt lot, was the Thrifty there or where Habitat for Humanity is? The Thrifty is Beauty Supply Warehouse now, and still uses Thrifty's pylon sign. http://daplus.us/ShowPhoto.aspx?abi=5006E9A267B3DF10EC38A40EE18151A55D694555961C982679D592B0...
