I just went by the Gigante in Chino that closed and saw the liquor license transfer which is in the name of Super Center Concepts, Inc. which is the corporate name for Superior Super Warehouse. A sign is on the building welcoming the Gigante customers to the Superior in Chino and Ontario. I also got...

Food 4 Less Pomona-Indian Hill & Holt
Yes it was a Market Basket up until the late 70's, then it was a Boys Market, I'm not sure but a friend tells me that for a short time it was a Viva Mart which was a latino store run by QFI after QFI bought Boys, until Boys was bought out by F4L.

I can tell you from my opinion that Gigante opened stores in areas that they were trying to cater to the Latino population and as an example they opened a store in Chino that has some latinos but is still mostly anglo and I personally went and checked out the store a few weeks after it opened and wa...

Gigante in Pico Rivera closing
My sources in Superior tell me they are taking over the lease on the Gigante in Pico Rivera and will reopen in 3-4 months. I can also tell you that the Gigante in Chino has already closed as well. I'm being told SUperior got that store too but they already have a store down the street in the old Gem...

Skaggs Alpha Beta
Having lived in the Inland Empire since 16 years old and in the grocery industry since then too, I remember all the fanfare when that store in Clarement opened as southern CA's first SKAGGS ALPHA BETA. I went in there on opening day and it was overexaggerated. All the corporate office suits from Alp...

Old Fedmarts
I heard that the City of Ontario has finally approved the long planned Wal-Mart Supercenter on Mountain and I-10 just south of the freeway. This was one of the older Fedmarts that had the 3 sided very tall sign. It was divided and Target was there since they came to CA in the late 80's. The left sid...

Superior Super Warehouse
I am a former career Superior employee only 3 years removed so if anybody has any questions feel free to ask. As far as the Superior in Covina is concerned I can speak for the histroy as far back as 1981 as I was an original employee there. It was originally a Smith's Food King (the 1st time around ...
