Re: Weis in Northern VA
Are you sure that Lotte was Hechinger? I was always told that Lotte was originally Lowes. They closed the store. Then later came back and built the large store that is currently on the opposite side of the site. There was a gap, from what I've been told, between the old and new Lowes stores. I work...

Re: Weis in Northern VA
Sully Square was behind the area where Shoppers Food/Aldi is and is the smallest of the three. Mainly has a Bank of America, a Little Caesar's Pizza and a Midas Muffler plus a few other stores. Sully Square had the K-Mart and Weis plus the Hechinger's. The Hechinger's was a Lotte by 2014. Beatty Co...

Re: Weis in Northern VA
This is actually three separate shopping centers grouped together: Sully Plaza, Sully Square and Sully Place Shopping Center. Weis and K-Mart were part of Sully Place in the back while Shoppers Food was part of Sully Plaza which fronted Route 50. The main part of the complex was back behind Route 5...

Re: Target '90s neon
The Carson City, NV Target still had the neon decor original to its 1995 opening until 2019 when it was finally remodeled. It wasn't much of a remodel- basically just repainted the walls, put in new carpets in clothing areas, switched the never open Food Avenue to a now actually open Starbucks, and...

Colorado Soupers and City Supers
While doing some King Soopers research from this site's spreadsheets, I ran into two chains that have curiously similar names: Colorado Soupers and City Supers. From what my friend and I searched, we found little on the chain except some Colorado Soupers patches and passing reference. Therefore I'd ...

Re: Indian Head, MD
About this town. Were there any Giant-MD stores located? According to a 1965 pamphlet (https://jhsgw.pastperfectonline.com/arc ... 9864131240), an Indian Head Highway address (Store #31) seems to point towards a location in the town of Indian Head.

Re: Collecting detailed info on individual stores with Bluepages
Awesome concept! It'll definitely be some time before it's very well filled out, but I hope we'll see wonderful contributions and make advancements by letting people know of histories of retail locations to a greater extent.

Re: Early Kmart closures (PRE-1994)
In the D.C. area, there are at least two Kmarts that have been closed for more than 25 years. One was in Vienna/Tysons Corner (8055 Leesburg Pike, store #4231) and was a typical 70s-era Kmart. Surprisingly, it was only razed after about 10-15 years in operation for the luxury Fairfax Square mall. An...
