Re: Kroger Family Centers
I think I might've just stumbled upon another former Family Center location (which was later converted into a Kroger supermarket) https://www.google.com/maps/@34.7184406,-92.3476348,3a,28.7y,12.98h,94.38t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sx06y8E2Vjrva43t0RSjD3g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 Is this another former Kroger FC?...

Re: Kroger Family Centers
I found this newspaper ad listed several locations of old retail stores (of where to buy trainsets, what the page was originally advertising) https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/382222633/ I looked at the (which according to this website) the former TG&Y store located at 1600 W Jackson St, Macom...

Does anybody know when Kroger stopped using those cube signs?
I found a Kroger in Dunbar, WV that has one of those iconic cube signs in the parking lot. The thing is, that store wasn't even built until 2007. Was Kroger still prominently using those signs by then? I understand that a lot of older Kroger stores still use those cube signs simply because they have...

Re: Lee's Discount Department Stores?
Any of you guys familiar with this chain? They were the discount department store division of the J.J. Newberry (A lot of people believe Britt's to be the discount division, but they were a department store similar to JCPenney, like what TG&Y was doing with their "Aim For the Best" ch...

Re: When did A&P leave Rhode Island?
Ok so I've done research and here's what I've found A&P left Rhode Island in 1995 after selling all of the remaining locations in the state (and some stores in surrounding states) to Edwards Super Food Stores. All remaining A&P stores in RI would be converted to Edwards locations. At the tim...

Re: When did A&P leave Rhode Island?
One thing I forgot to mention is this newspaper article from 1995 about Edwards super food stores acquiring several A&P locations. According to the news article, Several of the A&P locations being acquired are "In or near Rhode Island" https://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-x...

SuperPlus
Has anybody ever heard of A&P's "SuperPlus" stores? There's not that much info on them, but they were a small discount supermarket chain started by A&P. I'm guessing they were a "deep discount" supermarket, similar to Plus, another chain which you might be more familiar w...

I found this news article implying that A&P had stores that were stand alone bakery's and only sold bake goods. According to said news article, the last A&P bakery closed in 1992

Re: Food Emporium?
Yes they did renovate and take upscale a few Dominion Stores as The Food Emporium. As I recall there was still some Dominion branding - I recall the D logo specifically - on the stores. I know of two locations that were converted - one in Mississauga at the Sheridan Mall (eventually a Metro) and on...
