old grocery stores in/near Denver, CO

Does anyone know of any old grocery stores, drug stores, department stores, e.t.c. in Colorado (preferably the Denver area) that are still in operation? Thanks

There was a White Front at 2222 S. Harbor Blvd. in Anaheim. Here's a link to a vintage photo;

The San Carlos store was originally a Purity market from the 1960s.

The Cala Foods at 690 Stanyan st. in San Francisco will be closing soon, and the property owner has already filed for a demolition permit. I don't know if it's always been Cala Foods, but the building dates from 1961. How sad that it has to go. :(

After looking at a satellite view of the Fremont Payless location on Google Maps, it appears that the building has been demolished, and only the empty parking lot remains.

The Payless in Fremont at 39155 State St was in existence at least as far back as 1968 and open at least as late as 1995. One person told me that it then became a Nob Hill Foods that has since closed, and is now vacant. There was also an Albertson's/Payless combo in Modesto, CA at 2401 Mchenry Ave, ...

Albany, CA Safeway

Safeway has (proposed) to demolish and rebuild its 20,000 square foot store at 1500 Solano ave in Albany, a classic and intact mid-1960's marina store. Truthfully, this is one of the best marina Safeway's I've been to; it has one of the loftiest ceilings I've seen in a '60s Safeway, and has a pletho...

That sucks; I had just discovered this store on a recent visit back to the bay area. It opened about May 1966 on the site of a former used car dealership (which was demolished to make way for the store). This location was a replacement for a much older store down the block at the time.

Well a year and a half ago someone definetly mentioned (on the board) that that Mayfair market became a Brentwood. I think he did mention that it was a Safeway briefly, but I'm not certain. I know he said that the market closed up when Safeway opened a big store in Westlake shopping center in the mi...

All I know is that the Corti Brothers opened their market in 1947, and it may or may not have been the store that exists today at 5810 Folsom Blvd. This store is pretty original, and still has the old aisle markers.

Monterey, CA Safeway

The 21,500 square foot Safeway in downtown Monterey at 470 Munras Ave. opened in 1951, and is still more or less architecturally original. I wouldn't be surprised if it is the oldest Safeway in California that is still operating in its original building. Anyway, the future of that store is looking c...
