Re: BULLOCKS--Southern California

Re: Kinney Shoes

The Kinney in Venice, CA was transformed for many years as a Foot Locker, only to be changed to a (small) CVS Drug Store when the shopping center its in was remodeled. I dont know what it is now though.

Re: Westfield Palm Desert

Current Sears I'd say the marble-type tile on each side of the exterior entrance is a carry-over from Robinsons. The elevator reminds me of the elevator at the Robinsons (now Macy*s) in Puente Hills. It was "exposed", and was glass...so you could see out while going up or down. I wonder i...

Re: Which chain once occupied these identical buildings?

Coco's in the 80's purchased the Ruebens Steakhouse chain, I know they had a few fancier locations like the one on Colorado Blvd and Michelinda in Pasadena, and Whittier Bl in Whittier by Whittwood.

This is interesting as the Mann Festival closed this past weekend. The marquee coming down could be good.

Re: Circuit City

The old plug style Circuit City in Montebello is starting construction this week for a new tenant to move in. This store started originally as an OLE'S, then later Builders Emporium store. This will be the first Circuit City store that I know that will be reconfiured to a Best Buy store.

Re: BULLOCKS--Southern California

No, that particular Bullocks was part of the Northern California division before it closed.

That store was at Stonestown Mall in San Francisco. This store was closed and later became a Nordstrom.

Re: Westfield Palm Desert

They had actually doubled the size of the Robinsons-May store. It was a smaller store before. The old Robinsons used to be 3-levels if I remember correctly.

I havent been to that mall in about 8 years, so I cant remember everything lol.

Re: Westfield Palm Desert

I used to go to this mall a lot when I was young. My grandparents lived out in Banning and this was their mall of choice. The mall had at one point 5 department stores, today there are three, with a 4th on the way. I could have sworn that ROBINSONS was the SOUTH EAST anchor and MAY CO was the West a...
