To add on to this - it turns out that Kroger was actually listed in the 1926 Dearborn, MI City Directory after all. 3 locations in the alphabetical section, and a new store that was added at the last minute under an "Errata" section. Must have been one of those publishers that didn't bothe...

Thanks! I’ve looked at the Akron directories online in the past, and unfortunately they were published by one of those companies that didn’t list individual branch locations. They just say something like “123 Main St. plus branches“ for most years, which makes me a little crazy. It’s a shame becaus...

The Kroger I work in was originally a Foodtown. I believe it was built in 1956 or 1958. If I'm not mistaken there still is a slab of concrete that has the date it was poured and by whom. I will look tomorrow. Since I believe you're referring to 101 6th St in Findlay - that store had it's grand open...
