Re: Old Chicago A&P Location.
Harlem-Foster always had issues with competing stores in the same shopping center. Jewel was there along with another local grocery store throughout the 60's and 70's (I remember it as Gerard's Foods). Osco was put in there and Walgreen's was on the other side of the shopping center (Osco couldn't ...

Re: The Sofa Factory/Krause's Sofa Factory
There was a Krause's in Arlington Heights in the 90's off Rand Road, west of Arlington Heights Road. It is now a Trader Joe's.

Re: Chains with two stores very close to each other
While not a full fledged grocery store, Walgreen's had two store across the Harlem Ave (Chicago area) from each other throughout the 80's. One was next to the Dominick's in the Norridge Commons, the other was on the south end of the Harlem-Irving Plaza.

Re: Kohl's Supermarkets in the Chicago Area
One of the old Kohl's stores is at Dundee Rd and Buffalo Grove Rd in Buffalo Grove. It was a Dominick's in 90's and now it is a shoe store called Rogan Shoes.

Re: Dominick's Park Ridge Il.
I'm sure it is the Dempster/Greenwood location. What confirms it for me is the yellow/brown sign in the distance on the left side, which is the Artuher Treacher's next to the Dominick's.

The gas station on that corner was an ARCO with a AM/PM mini-mart back in the mid 80's. I remember it as being popular back with the local kids (myself included). When ARCO left the Chicago area, AM/PM went with it. The gas station itself was torn down around 5 years ago.
