Re: Early Tully's Coffee outlets in Supermarkets

I know a lot of the Fry's Marketplace locations in AZ have had Kroger-licensed Tully's inside for quite a while... I think Supervalu put Tully's into some Albertsons in WA/OR too.

I think the Tully's Shops are bankrupt and have been sold to someone. I am not sure where this leaves the licensees.

Re: Interesting 10/12 blog on the Market Street Safeway

The other interesting part is that it says Safeway owns the store but not the parking lots; they lease those.

Re: Interesting 10/12 blog on the Market Street Safeway

Highest and best use (of the land). They will figure out a way to give Safeway however much space that the company feels it needs in order to make this work. Maybe Safeway thinks 38,000 square feet is enough? Probably a couple of "Lucky" Stores in San Francisco that Safeway could buy for a...

Re: Smith's Store architecture in the 80's

The Burley and Idaho Falls Smiths would have had this door (or lack thereof) set up. Installing "standard" doors was something that happened almost immediately under Kroger ownership on the 4 Smiths of this model (at the time) up here in Northern Nevada; those stores all previously had the...

Re: Smith's Store architecture in the 80's

3616 looks like a former Smiths to me with an irregular front sign area (the rest of the front looks right). The building shape and even parking lot layout are Smiths looking. as is the placement of the loading dock. It is possible it is a copycat, though, of Smiths. Many King Soopers stores have th...

Re: Aborted Fred Meyer in Phoenix

I think the full size store at Bethany Home was actually in the process of being finished and stocked when Kroger decided not to open it. A Wal Mart Supercenter sits on this site now. That is not a very good neighborhood. It was probably not the right spot for Fred Meyer to make its debut in Phoenix...

Re: Albertsons-Lucky-Smith's (Garden Grove)

Don't forget the floral fixture that is a leftover from Smiths. I remember one other leftover Smiths department fixture in that store, possibly over the hot chinese food area that was being leased out to someone (and I'm pretty sure it wasn't Rice Garden)... but that was about 12 years ago... I thou...

Re: Mini-Marina - Hearne, TX

Perry was a pretty good sized store. More standard 12 aisle model as I recall. I have photos somewhere. I think it was quite a bit larger than what I saw in Okemah.

Re: Mini-Marina - Hearne, TX

That looks like a marina to me. A small one. They did small marinas in some small towns. They also did small gables in some small spots. This looks kind of like one of those but a marina version. Gable example: 161 North 5th Street, Okemah, Oklahoma (Family Dollar) And, not to drift to the business ...

Re: The Chestertown Acme A Frame is to be renovated

That is too bad! I was just back in that store like a month ago. It was a really, really nicely remodeled store into the Jewel interior. It was small and very, very busy on the late weekday morning I visited. There were so many employees around I wasn't too comfortable taking pictures even in my usu...

Re: Former Boston Market locations in your area

The Reno Boston Market remains open. I keep wondering how long...

They now serve the food on plates with actual silverware if you order the food for there, it appears. Not sure what, exactly, they are doing. Most of their traffic here seems to be drive through. It isn't busy at all anymore.

And there is a freestanding Dillons Pharmacy in a former Blockbuster in Joplin, MO...

Re: Rite Aids with Pay 'n Save interiors

I think there is one along Pacific Highway about 10 minutes south of the SeaTac Airport... no idea what town it is in. East side of the road.

It has been on my "to check" list when I have time but it is usually a real crunch there. I believe that time will come in a few weeks.
